So, I did it.
24 days, 24 blog posts. A challenge that pushed me to reflect daily throughout December, culminating in a series of recaps and posts about topics that I found meaningful in 2024... But, being me, I can’t stop there. Here’s a recap of the recaps, a meta-reflection on what I learned during this process of daily writing.
One major theme emerged loud and clear: sports. It’s become a cornerstone of my life in 2024, and it’s not going anywhere. I remember being skeptical about running at the beginning of the year, a time when my colleague Korbinian told me something I didn’t quite grasp then: “You will understand at some point…” Well, Korbinian, I understand now. Running is fantastic – efficient, time-saving, and the gear is always suitcase-friendly. It’s become a crucial piece of my personal “sports triangle.”
This triangle, as I envision it, consists of biking, running, and calisthenics. It’s the perfect blend of endurance and strength training for me. The prospect of outdoor biking during the warmer months, especially events like the TransAlp or the ride to Reschensee for the Reschenseelauf, fills me with excitement. These experiences are more than just exercise; they’re about exploring and connecting with the world around me.
Beyond the physical activity itself, I’ve also embraced the importance of recovery and relaxation. Sauna has become my go-to for digital detox and unwinding. I’m even aiming to become a pro saunamaster – an ambition I’m curious to see unfold in 2025. How will it change my life? Only time will tell.
Connecting with nature through winter sports has also been important. I’m grateful for the opportunities I had to go snowboarding this year, alongside cross-country skiing in Finland. Snowboarding brings back childhood memories – even though I used to ski in the same Alpine locations, the feeling is similar. I’m also happy that some of my kids are carrying on the skiing tradition.
On the professional front, 2024 was a deep dive into the world of Web3 and NFTs. From countless NFT drops and Web3 conferences to giving talks and participating in panels, it’s been a whirlwind. I’m incredibly thankful for the amazing people I’ve met within this space. While the crypto market is experiencing a boom, we’re still in the early stages of many Web3 concepts, like Web3 loyalty. The future is uncertain, but I’m excited to be part of this community and continue experimenting and contributing.
My involvement with the Labs Talk podcast/vodcast is also set to continue with even more exciting developments in 2025. We have some fantastic guests lined up for Q1, and we’ll be focusing on the intersection of sports, technology, and business, even venturing into the world of eSports. My only hope is that our tech setup becomes more reliable… and that our new studio in the SAP Labs Munich office is finally ready!
Looking ahead, I’m curious to see how this blog evolves. It’s safe to say that sports will remain a significant theme, but I also plan to explore various tech topics and share life lessons learned from my own experiences – the ups and downs that have shaped me.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has subscribed and read my posts. I appreciate your engagement and hope we can continue the conversation here or on any other platform where you find me. ❤️
